Gilbert D Miami , FL October 11, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Self Cleaning Free Standing Gas Range MGR5751BDW Oven would take several minutes to light up and once on it would cycle on/off repeatedly First purchased the Valve/Regulator kit. Installed it & oven was doing the same thing. Saw the notes on this website that it could possibly be the ignitor so I decided to try that. In my case, this unit has two ignitors exactly the same. One for the broiler (top) and one for the oven (bottom). So it occurred to me to swap out the two to verify if it was indeed the ignitor and BINGO! ... It was the ignitor all along. I remind you that the bad ignitor was glowing and appeared to be ok, but it was not 100%, thus not allowing the valve to open. It should generate a certain amount of amps to open the safety valve. So you may see a bright glow, but it could very well not be bright enough and consequently, not generate the amps necessary to effectively trigger the valve to open. Thanks to AppliancePartsPros.com I was able to figure things out. Video walk through for most items and awesome chat sessions to educate you accordingly. My unit was a Maytag Model # MGR5751BDW.
