Larry A Rockford , IL February 28, 2017 Appliance: Maytag Top Loading Washer LAT2300AAE Transmission shaft floated up while doing a load of wash then the agitator would not turn Removed the agitator, then the spacer and lock screw, then the inside tub, then the mounting stem I replaced the agitator collar to fix the issue The hardest part on this project was removing the locks with the spanner wrench. It is not easy to break loose if the machine has never been repaired in 15 years. You need the rubber hammer and really hit hard to get loose. This is what took the longest. Christian M Marlton , NJ April 01, 2019 Appliance: Maytag Top Loading Washer LAT9520AAE Agitator not spinning > assembly would float and disengage the agitator shaft out of the gearbox Replaced agitator collar. While I was in there, I installed the stem mounting kit. I did the stem kit and bearing about 10 years ago, so I only did the stem seals this time. The special spanner wrench is required for this job. The job is pretty straight forward the collar is under the inner tub. I put 2+ hrs for this job, as the I had to drill out the broken set-screw that holds the plastic agitator in place, plus I wanted to clean everything real good. Thankfully, I could just pull the agitator out with the shaft attached for drilling. I went with a larger stainless steel sheet metal screw (coarse thread) and a new "o-ring" ...I actually used a small modified grommet to make the o-ring. I went with a larger screw, as I need to go a size or two up to get a good bite since I had to drill out the old one. Bob B Rogersville , AL August 30, 2019 Appliance: Maytag Top Loading Washer LAT3500AAE Washer needed new timer Ordered a new timer. When it arrived the mounting holes did not have threads. After calling, they sent me another timer. It did not have threaded mounting holes either. Called again! They, on the second one, they said: "oh just use self-threading screws". Obvious, but I am not an appliance repairman. Long story short (too late), the new timer is in and working! Read More...
