Description

This microwave magnetron is the high-voltage tube that generates the microwave energy to heat food. When it fails, the oven may run but not heat or heat very slowly. Replacing it restores normal cooking performance. What it does:

• Produces the microwave energy that heats food in the oven cavity
• A failed unit can cause the microwave to run but not heat
• Can create an unusual loud humming or buzzing during operation

Install notes:

• Unplug the microwave and discharge the high-voltage capacitor before servicing
• Handle by the mounting surfaces; avoid touching or damaging the antenna and ceramic insulators
• Reconnect high-voltage leads exactly as routed and reassemble cooling airflow parts; test with a cup of water to confirm heat
