Whirlpool 12002039 Drive Motor OEM Part

I had watched some videos on youtube to understand how to disassemble & gain access to the various washer components & their location. Very easy. I had first replaced the wax motor, but that was not the problem. I reviewed the diagnostic procedures that were present near the control board, followed the directions to remove the main plug from the motor control board, which should allow the washer to spin at 50 rpm. No spin, & upon closer inspection, I observed that one of the phase drive circuits was smoked. I was going to just change out the components, or replace the motor control board, but after further investigation, the only thing available was an upgrade replacement kit, which included a new motor, motor control board, & wiring harness. I ordered the kit, & replaced all of the items per instructions. It was pretty easy, & took me about 1 hour to complete. I probably spent more time maneuvering the washer to gain access to both the front & back as my laundry room space is kind of tight. The customer service team at AppliancePartsPros was excellent. Definitely a very positive experience. With all of the negative comments about this series washer, I can say that I had 13 1/2 years of good service out of the machine, & will probably plan on using it for another 5+ or longer....

Basically rebuilt the washer from the ground up. Spent more money than a new washer but we have been so happy with the way this machine has worked over the last 19 years figured it would be money well spent.

This was on a Maytag Neptune mah5500bww model. I watched the short video and the repair was done in less than an hour. It's a vary simple repair with minimal amount of tools. Narrowing down the problem using the washers code system took about the same amount in time. I had already used an ohm meter on the motor windings and knew where the problem was. At that point I removed the motor control panel ( bottom front of unit ) and on inspection found a blown fuse, and a couple of resisters . No fixing this. I found the parts package with Appliance Pros at a very reasonable price. Also bought a new drum belt, which I didn't use , as the old one looked like new. On the shelf it went for now. I spent less than $ 300 and the unit is good as new and quieter. Best of all, my lovely wife is happy and I am the envy of her aerobics class. Thank you . PS: The part came within 2 days. I Diagnosed it as a bad drive motor. Confirmed with www.appliacepartspros.com's live chat tech on what part number I needed. Ordered a new drive motor from www.appliacepartspros.com. Two days later it was at my doorstep. I watched a video to familiarize myself with the motor removal and install procedure. Not only did I get the motor for a very fair price.( I did shop around ) But It came with an upgraded computer control module. Also a very detailed and easy to follow set of instructions. I was an appliance tech but have since changed careers. So I know what I'm talking about when I say my experience with this company was great. My washer hasn't worked this good in a very long time. It spins so fast and the water is so extracted from the cloths that my dryer times have been cut in half.

After researching repair histories, we concluded that the motor and or motor control board were the most likely failed parts. Fortunately Appliance Part Pros sold a conversion unit for this model that included both items as a package. The price at just over $250 was reasonable. We order on a Monday and Fed-ex dropped it at our door Weds AM. Removal and replacement of both parts took about and hour and a half. The instructions provided were helpful and accurate. The washer is working probably better than new. We were quite satisfied.
