Keith W Las Vegas , NV February 21, 2016 Appliance: KitchenAid Refrigerator KSRS25FTBT01 Ice door was intermittent for awhile and finally quit opening ice backed up in the chute and plugged it Reviewed the AppliancePartsPros.com site and decided that the most likely suspect was the ice motor. I ordered one and got it FAST! I removed the water ice tray in the bottom of the Ice/water kiosk which exposed two phillips screws which I removed. The front panel came off by lifting upward and unplugging it. The ice door motor was visible near the top of the opening. I removed the hex head screws with a 1/4" nut driver so the ice door assembly was free. The core control board was hidden behind a flexible sheet. The ice motor pigtail plugs in to the 6 pin connector on the left. The clear plastic ice guide was holding the motor wires from being removed. The ice guide had two hex head screws securing it in place. In addition it was fastened to the back panel by double sided sticky tape which was also over the top of the motor wires. The ice guide would not come out and I was worried that I would break it by using too much force. I finally was able to pull the left side out and at an angle that would allow me to reroute the motor wires without disconnected the water tube. I had to break the sticky tape to pull the old wire harness out but then the ice door assembly was clear of the fridge. The ice door motor is held onto the assembly by two 1/4" hex head screws. At this point the ice door lever is free to fall out. It was a little tricky to get the lever, ice door and motor aligned so I could get the screws back in, but was able to do it after a couple of tries. I reinstalled the ice door assembly with the two screws and fed the wiring harness plug through the break in the sticky tape and then under the auger motor assembly to the connector on the left side of the control board. I reinstalled the ice guide with the two hex head screws and remounted the front panel. I was very happy to see ice dropping freely into my glass again. Repair successful. Gary V Clovis , CA September 26, 2014 Appliance: Model WHIRLPOOL #GS6NBEXRS01 Ice dispenser door failed to open on my whirlpool side by side I came to the conclusion that the motor had developed a problem, so I ordered a replacement, which was delivered to me the next day!! Thanks, Appliance Parts Pros, for such speedy delivery!! The replacement procedure went fairly easily. I first removed the slide out tray from the ice/water well in the freezer door. Next, remove the 2 screws holding the bottom slide in place. From there, you can simply lift up and out on the trim piece, then remove the electrical connector from the back of the panel, and set the trim aside. The motor can then be changed by removing the 2 screws securing it to a bracket, routing the wire for removal, unplugging it from the control board, which is located behind a piece of cardstock and installing the replacement motor in the opposite manner as the removal of the old unit. Replace everything in the reverse order that it was disassembled, and you're back in business! The only tools required were a phillips head screwdriver, and a 1/4" nutdriver. A pretty straightforward repair! Read More... 19 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers

Replacing the pad was easy just remove the drip tray and the two screws behind it then lift off the panel. I unplugged if so I could move it to a work area. Removed the old pad by breaking the retaining tabs and snapped in the new one and reconnect the wiring. The ice motor replacement was more difficult but the excellent report on the site helped a lot.
