Edward H Brunswick , GA April 01, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator WSF26C3EXB01 In door ice dispenser wasn't working as plastic gear box was cracked & fridge was just over 1 year old You'll need a screwdriver with one of those small square heads and a small socket wrench. Remove ice bin. Unscrew 2 screws on casing surrounding the ice box in order to lift it up and out. Remove 4 screws from plastic piece beneath the ice box that the coupling is mounted to and is part of the ice chute. No need to remove coupling as you can lift this piece out (carefully) with it in tact. If you haven't already, unplug the fridge or turn off the breaker. [I didn't do this sooner because I wasn't sure how long the process would take and didn't want anything to spoil while I kept the fridge door open] The spring & rod with rubber washer can be removed and set aside. Unscrew 4 screws surrounding motor. Gently pull up motor (as it's attached to wires from below) and detach wires (it's like a thumb drive attaches to a computer). Then, simply re-attach the new motor and re-assemble in reverse order. Plug in fridge or flip breaker to admire your handy work and appreciate the fact that you didn't have to pay $75- $100 for a service call and who knows how much for labor and the jacked up price of the part (which already cost $120 + shipping on-line). As for the cracked motor case... my advise is that if ice doesn't dispense immediately to check the box to make sure the ice hasn't solidified. My guess is that's what happened to ours and the torque was too much on the motor to break up the ice so it broke the casing instead. So, use a wooden spoon handle to loosen up the ice periodically and perhaps adjust the freezer temp a degree or two to keep the ice from solidifying. Good luck, DIYers! Torance H Citrus Spgs , FL March 02, 2020 Appliance: Model WRS576FIDN01 Ice maker auger quit turning. Remove and replaced the auger motor, shaft seal, and the chute seal. No problem. However, the causing failure was to broken wire on the bottom of the freezer door. Loom and blue wire were cut, due to being pinched. I had current to start with and the auger worked three times then quit. That's when I really had to start searching . Fun. Tom T Plano , TX December 20, 2021 Appliance: Model KENMORE MODEL #10651132210 The auger motor quit working so it wouldn't dispense ice. We received our needed parts very quickly. We brought up the exact repair we needed on You Tube posted by ApliancePartsPros (Simon) on our exact Kenmore Freezer. We followed it step by step and his directions were perfect and finished the project fairly quickly - approximately 1 1/2 hours and now are the proud owners of a working ice maker that dispenses ice cubes and crushed ice! Hooray! The whole project cost us less than $150.00. Our one recommendation would be to have a hairdryer handy. We found as we dismantled to get to the auger motor several of our parts were frozen in place and a minute or so with the hairdryer helped to pop them loose. Thanks AppliancePartsPros!
