Howard H San Juan Capistrano , CA August 29, 2017 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MDE2400AYW Thumping sound eventually clothes would not dry. Took the dryer apart and found the blower fan was fractured off the drive shaft of the motor. Had gone to your video as to how to replace it. On You Tube your video said to take off the fan by removing the nut from the drive shaft in a clockwise direction. Could not get the nut off despite putting a vice grip on the pulley mechanism at the other end of the drive shaft. Tried turn ing it counterclockwise, but what this did was to remove the belt pulley from the motor shaft which I had clamped my vice grip to. Finally called the appliance repair person who said over the phone I was turning the nut the wrong way i.e. should be counterclockwise not clockwise as suggested in the video. This time I put the vice grip on the shaft just proximal to the pulley and was able to remove the nut easily. Put in the new blower fan and nut followed by reattaching the belt etc. without incident. Runs like a new Porsche, even drys well. Read More... 5 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Screwdrivers, Socket Set
