Kari M Greensburg , IN December 10, 2021 Appliance: Model WFG231LVBO Broken oven door handle The plastic piece on the handle where the screw goes in to hold glass door up had broke. I ordered new handle, the retainer pieces that go over the plastic pieces to lock it all in and screws that were suggested. The screws were the wrong ones. They were way too small. I already had one screw and thankfully only had to buy 1 new one because the screw was $40 and shipping’s $10 for it AND it’s on back order right now. The old retainer ring that goes over plastic piece was a nightmare to remove and the new one was just as bad to put on. There seems to be no info on how to add or remove one. Lots of prying with needle nosed pliers helped take it off. Deep well socket that’s a bit bigger than the ring and a rubber mallet will help put the new ring on. Set the handle on your knee or something that will cushion it and gently tap it. Once the new screw comes in I’ll be able to fully assemble the door. I definitely would have been able to do the job quicker if I would have known how to handle the retainer pieces. They took up the majority of my time. I’m a 36 yo divorced mom who prefers to DIY everything rather than pay someone else to do it. If I can fix it then anyone else can too. Parts were an exact match. It would have been nice to have a tutorial or instructions with the individual pieces to confirm putting the right pieces together.
