Dennis S Holland , MI December 15, 2014 My oven would not consistently start Replaced the spark igniter. The best thing about the experience was that I literally ordered the part on Thursday afternoon and it was at my home by Friday. It was well packaged and intact. Very happy with my experience. Ulrich O Millburn , NJ January 05, 2015 Appliance: Model KENMORE 66575824000 Oven burner occasionally failed to light usually in the middle of roasting a turkey or chicken oven then "locked down " The problem is a finicky ignition system, Direct Spark Ignition. Apparently Whirlpool redesigned the igniter/burner assembly slightly to make it more reliable. The repair is very easy. Turn off power, but you don't need to turn off gas. Remove oven bottom and flame spreader, then remove burner/igniter assembly, one screw at front, one at back. Lift out burner assembly carefully to avoid stretching wire. Pull electric connector from pin on burner/igniter assembly. Vacuum to clean oven. Attach electric connector to new assembly, lower burner assembly and make sure it is properly aligned with gas outlet. Reassemble remaining parts. (I installed a new oven bottom too.) I won't know whether the oven is completely reliable for some time, but it looks promising. Karin M River Grove , IL July 17, 2014 The oven wouldn't light after we did the self cleaning We talked about getting a new gas range then decided to look online. We found the replacement part and the great video for self-installation. Long story... short. This was fast!!! We couldn't believe how easy this was to fix ourselves. No repairman needed. The part was ordered and showed up to our house the next day! Within a half hour the oven was ready for use again. My husband was thrilled. (I had my eye on a new double-oven, but I guess that will have to wait....) Connor D Wappingers Falls , NY April 07, 2014 My Kenmore gas range was no longer igniting a flame. At first many may think of an appliance fix as a difficult and costly process. Thanks to an Appliance Parts Pros video I found online I was able to quickly diagnose and order the parts I needed. Now as an automotive technician, I was pretty confident I could do the repair but did not think it would be this easy! A screw driver was the only tool needed to replace my ignitor! While every stove is different, I guarantee even someone who has zero mechanical experience could complete this job with the help of one of the online instructional videos! One tip I will mention that pertains to this particular range is do not be intimidated by the fact that you are replacing the whole burner with the ignitor. If anything it makes the job easier and you are not tampering with any direct gas lines. Once you get into the bottom of the oven it is self explanatory!
