William P El Paso , TX April 26, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Top Loading Washer MAVT546EWW The pump on my washing machine went bad It was a relatively easy fix. Removed the small access panel at the back of the washing machine after unplugging the unit. The pump is right there. Disconnected the two hoses to the pump, catching some water with towels. Removed three retaining screws, then realized I had not disconnected the belt from under the unit. Easy fix, tilted the unit and disconnected the belt. Put in the new pump , connected the hoses, then reconnected the belts. Works like new! Andrew J Nicholasville , KY November 07, 2014 Very noisy whenever motor was running Turned the washer on its front to access underneath the machine. Turned the belt and heard a small squeak in the water pump. Looked online and found others saying the water pump can cause loud noisy operation and that it was easy to fix. It was. After getting the part (just one day after ordering it by the way) it took maybe 30 minutes to repair. I probably could have done it even faster but I dropped my screws a number of times. I would suggest magnetic tools since it can be tough to find the screws once you drop them down into the washer. Kimberly C North Providence , RI May 19, 2015 Washing machine pump went and belt was stretched I have to be honest, my brother fixed it for me. He had previously taken the pump off so when the new parts arrived in record speed it took him no time at all.. The hardest part was getting the remaining water out of the washer so he could tip it over to install the parts. Previsously he had gotten most of it out but I was amazed at how smelly 2 inches of water could be after 2 days. It took him less the 15 mins to put on the new pump and belt Read More... 5 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Robert C North Andover , MA December 10, 2017 Appliance: Model MAYTAG Initially the washing machine was dancing across the floor during the spin cycle. I ordered the snubber ring and fixed the dancing problem following the excellent youtube video you folks provide. I then had an issue with the machine not draining the water during the first spin cycle. It would drain if I put it into an extended or second spin cycle. I went back to your site and did a web chat with Kayla who walked me through different scenarios. finally, we decided to get the additional parts which were a cinch to install because I had either already checked them or uninstalled them during the initial problem. I was able to order the parts and upgrade the shipping (and got them in less than the 1.7 days projected) during the web chat. I had the new parts back in less than an hour and the machine has been running beautifully! I would not hesitate to order from you again and will recommend you to anyone I can.
