• Maintains spring tension to resist vibration during normal operation
• Replaces a missing, bent, or weakened retainer

Install notes:

• Disconnect power; for gas appliances, also shut off the gas supply
• Access the shaft/stud and carefully remove the old retainer with pliers; avoid damaging adjacent plastic parts
• Press the new retainer on squarely using a deep socket or nut driver; do not hammer directly
• If the mating shaft or component is damaged or deformed, address that before installing the new retainer
