Lawrence L Largo , FL August 08, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Atlantis Washer MAV8600AWW Bearings were worn out makeing a lot of noise I had a lot of problems removing the spin hub, I had to use an air impact wrench to un screw it even then it was very hard, it did not go easy with the hammer & pipe wrench as shown in the video. It was also very hard to remove the bottom spin bearing I had to cut the bearing retainer with a dremel tool so I could get my puller on it. After I struggled to get it apart The repair went very easy, I used brake spring pliers to remove the springs it worked like a charm. I am very pleased with the results, It works Like a new machine, would I do it again, Yes even though I am 72 years old, The video's were very helpful, Thank You Lawrence Lyons. Bryon G East Peoria , IL October 10, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Top Loading Washer SAV4655EWW Washer stops mid cycle Because the washer would stop mid cycle and would start again after some period of time, I presumed that there was something amiss in the drive train (i.e. motor, transmission, belt). Took the unit apart and discovered that two of the three brake pads were destroyed. Motor turned easily as did the transmission. Replaced the brake pads and reassembled. Now the washer doesn't stop as before, but will blow by all cycles never stopping to drain, spin, or rinse. It appears that they damaged caused in the drive train has affected the timer. New timer on the way. Read More... 10 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Pliers, Socket Set

Ping J Southborough , MA June 15, 2021 Appliance: Maytag Top Loading Washer SAV515DAWW Loud noise like jet engine during fast spin I suspected the main bearing had worn out, and I was right. It is a difficult job, because I am retired, I had the time. During disassembly, I found the hub had rusted really bad, it needed replacement. I did not buy special tools. The manufacturer repair manual says to use three OEM tools, I made some tools with wood. Simon's video is a big help. Now the washer is quiet, time will tell how good a job I did. This is the first time I opened up a washer, the second time would be much easier. Jim L Seneca , KS September 25, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Atlantis Washer MAV6200AWW The washer would make a loud squeaking noise in sync with the agitation I attempted to simply lubricate the old seal, but that resulted in a black residue getting on the clothes. So I purchased and installed a new seal. The squeak went away and washer appears to be working.
