Annie V Missouri City , TX February 23, 2016 Appliance: KitchenAid 42" Built In Refrigerator KSSC42QTS02 Ice would not dispense My refrigerator was not dispensing ice. I could hear the motor activating but noticed the ice auger was not turning. My old drive shaft was stripped on both ends. Video was very helpful and it was an easy fix for someone with little handyman experience. Received my order much faster than expected! The parts arrived the next day and paid for the standard shipping charge. I live in Texas. Michael S Petaluma , CA November 25, 2022 Appliance: KitchenAid Refrigerator, Side-By-Side, Built-In, 48 Inch KBSD608ESS01 The ice (dispenser) won't come out crushed or cubed First, I verified the dispenser motor was working by removing the ice bin and marking the top of the drive shaft with a Sharpie. After closing the freezer door press the Ice button briefly on the Cubed setting. Then open the door to see if the shaft marking has changed position. Do the same for the reverse direction, or Crushed setting. When my new drive shaft arrived with the coupling sleeve already attached. I could see very quickly that my original drive shaft coupling sleeve had slid upwards, meaning the original drive shaft had dropped such that it no longer engaged with the ice bin. Of course, all that was necessary to fix my issue was to either move the drive shaft coupling sleeve back into the original position or replace this drive shaft coupling sleeve. A new shaft was not required here, as the drive shaft coupling sleeve is sold separately. Bryan L Plano , TX April 03, 2017 Making ice but not dispensing. Took the dispenser apart to inspect and found the auger not spinning especially if I held it. Found the shaft stripped. Replaced the shaft and seal and it's working perfect. Spent too much time taking the dispenser all apart and fiddling with the blades/auger. If the motor is making noise and the shaft is turning when you remove the ice dispenser then check the shaft to see if it's stripped. Shaft comes out with two bolts and takes less than 5 minutes to replace. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers
