This Shield is a protective cover used in select Whirlpool-built appliances. It helps guard nearby components from heat, moisture, and debris so the appliance can operate as designed and nearby parts don't wear prematurely. What it does:

• Shields sensitive wiring, controls, or moving parts from heat, splashes, and debris
• Helps maintain proper airflow/deflection where the shield is installed
• Common symptoms include visible cracks, warping/discoloration, broken tabs, rattling from a loose shield, or a missing/bent shield after service
