Michael W Fort Myers , FL February 21, 2019 Appliance: Maytag Washer- Horizontal Axis MAH5500BWW Maytag Neptune new bearing install Pulled apart machine to get to bearings. Used a puller to get old bearings out. Cleaned the bearing chute then pressed new bearing in along with spacer that I ordered from AppliancePartsPros.com. Replaced tub seal then reassembled machine. Machine worked great for first few loads, then began making a clicking/thumping noise. When I turned the tub by hand, I could replicate this noise. Figuring the bearings did not go in properly, I opened back panel and removed the belt and pulley. I turned the tub by hand again and the noise was gone. I figured that the bolt to the pulley was on too tight (suppose to be 33ft/lbs) and maybe my torque wrench did not click properly. I reassembled the pulley paying particular attention to the torque. 33 ft lbs is not a lot. I put the belt back on and machine works great. I have used AppliancePartsPros.com in the past and knew how quick their service was. I ordered my part on a Sunday night and it showed up on Tuesday. In the past I have received items in one day. Basically this was one day as I assume that they are not working on Sunday. I would use AppliancePartsPros again in the future. The part was as described and fit perfectly. I rated the repair challenge a 3 based on the fact that I had done this repair once in the past which made this repair much easier and I had the tools I needed. For those who have not done this repair and are mechanically inclined I'd give it a 4. If you are someone who is not a "fixer" on anything-go buy yourself a new machine as the cost to have it repaired by a professional outweighs the cost of a new washer. There are many videos online about this repair for those who want to dive in. And one other bit of advice, you do not need the very expensive bearing tool that you will see advertised to do this job . It may make things easier, but it is not necessary. Janice K Alexandria , MN November 07, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Maytag Laundry (Dryer Ele) MLE19PDDYW Bearings went out Pulling the old bearings was not easy. Had to pound like crazy to get them popped out. During the process I learned that the shaft was bad too. Ordered all the parts and put them in. Works great now. Only cost me. $230 for it all! Allot less than a whole new machine.
