A K West Union , SC December 17, 2024 Appliance: Maytag Refrigerator MFI2568AES12 Water and ice dispenser was intermittent had to gentle wiggle and toggle it to get it to work sometimes we heard a popping sound then it would work all day then quit! I ordered both the dispenser arm and SPRING. Not sure what was broken but wanted to be prepared. Watched the video on the repair, reviewed each step about 5 times to get it right while doing the repair. Cleaned everything I could around the parts and carefully removed the covers and replaced both parts. It was more delicate than I expected but when all back together volia! It was fixed and has been working like a charm. Our 15 year old frig is ready for another 15. :) I used very thin plastic wedges (icing smoother/bowl scraper) to pry off the cover rather than a screwdriver which might scratch the finish. A thin credit card might work too. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers, Screwdrivers
David C Stockton Springs , ME April 21, 2020 Appliance: Model JENN-AIR Ice chute seal needed replacing. I have a Jenn-air Refrig/Freezer, manufactured by Whirlpool. Since there was no repair video @ApplianceProsPros for my specific job, I searched YouTube and found something similar. It gave me a good idea of what I was up against. I ordered the needed parts, which arrive in a short amount of time. I turned off the power/circuit-breaker then removed the dispenser cover, which was held onto the freezer door by two screws at the bottom of the tray. I disconnected the power plug to the printed circuit board and the wire clips to the light and the solenoid. Next, I removed the ice chute and seal components held on to the freezer door by three screws. Everything needed a good cleaning. After twelve years, it had a lot of mold in areas that cannot be cleaned without disassembly. I then reassembled the seal and flapper with the parts that I obtained from AppliancePartsPros, and replaced everything back in reverse order. It was quite simple and only took about an hour, including the cleaning time. Everything worked fine. The nut driver was better to use than the Philips. The only goof-up was I did not replace the spring. When I opened the package from AppliancePartsPros, and shook all of the contents out, the spring did not fall out and I figured it just did not make it. Nope, after putting the old spring back in, I went out to dispose of the package, and found that the spring was in a packet but some how tape on the packet held it inside. My bad! Read More...
