Robert G Columbia , MD April 08, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer LSC9000PW2 I have an older whirlpool washer that no longer responded to the fabric select knob if any low speed selection was made nothing happened when high is selected it operates fine After replacing the Fabric Select switch and washer clutch with no effect on the problem, I didn't want to throw more parts at it without expert recommendation. So I went to your web site, posted my inquiry, and received the following reply the next day from Joe Martin: You most likely have a "sticky" motor switch [AP3081302]. Once the motor is running the speeds can be changed successfully. There is a 30 or 40 % chance that the timer contacts are sticky as well. But that's an easy check with a meter; place the washer dial in a wash cycle, unplug the power cord and pull out the timer knob. Check across the tan and orange wires for a closed circuit. If the circuit is closed, the timer should be OK. I checked the timer (which was OK), ordered the part (from AppliancePartsPros.com of course), received it 4 days later, installed it within 20 minutes, and the washer now works like new. Thanks for your excellent diagnostics, Joe! Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
