Jonathan B Bend , OR March 29, 2015 Appliance: Jenn-Air Electric Downdraft Surface Unit CVE3401B The fan switch on our jenn air cooktop broke After looking at several YouTube videos that were only moderately helpful for my particular model, I disconnected the power at the breaker, disconnected the wires below the cooktop to the junction boxed lifted the whole unit out, including the fan assembly. I flipped it upside down and took off the screws holding the unit to the glass top. Although the new fan switch did not look the same as the original switch, the new switch does fit. The new switch did not come with a hex nut. The old hex nut was just slightly bigger than threads on the new switch. So, I needed to go to a few hardware stores to find a hex nut that would fit. I finally found one at Ace Hardware. After reassembling everything, I realized that I did not need to take the whole unit out and flip it like some videos had suggested. I just needed to lift the unit high enough to put some wood under the unit to hold it up above the hole in the counter. Doing that would have saved some time. The fan now works great with the new switch. Read More... 9 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers
