Description
This surface burner infinite switch sits behind the knob and regulates power to the cooktop/range element. Replacing a failed switch restores accurate heat settings so the burner can turn on, modulate properly, and shut off as expected.
- Regulates on/off cycling of the surface element to achieve the selected heat level
- Sends power to the burner based on knob position
- Common failure symptoms: burner won't heat, only runs on high, won't shut off, or heats erratically
- Knob turns but the burner does not respond

- Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing; surface elements operate at high voltage
- Pull off the knob and remove the control panel/backguard as needed to access the switch
- Transfer wires one at a time from the old switch to the matching terminals on the new switch
- Align the shaft to fit your knob, reassemble the panel, restore power, and test operation
