Brian S Leesville , SC December 18, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MEDE300VF1 Maytag 3000 series mede300vf1 f01 code The appliance instructions, located inside the cabinet, said to replace the electronic controls to clear the code. It has two: I took a 50-50 shot and replaced the cheaper of the two (behind front control panel), that did not clear the code. I then removed the dryers top cover and removed the second electronic control board and decided to open the white plastic cover enclosing the actual board and inspect. Once I opened the plastic cover I found the 230v to 12v power converter fried itself (large burned spot on the board). I ordered the more expensive board which comes in the white cover, installed it, and this cleared the code. Hoping to save money clearly cost me, should have gone further and inspected the second board the first time . After the fact, I read the hints on the web site and found they recommended replacing the board in the cabinet first...expensive lesson. The job was super simple. Removing the front control panel was not necessary. Three screws on the back hold the top cover on, remove them, lift rear of cover up and slide whole cover back. The electronic control box was mounted right there under the cover. Removed the electrical connections, unscrewed one screw, slid the whole box out of the slotted bracket.
