Kevin W Holt , MI February 06, 2017 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator GSF26C5EXW02 The whirlpool side by side refriderator door hinge cam was worn out door would not shut easily I ordered the door hinge cam kit, both the hinge, lower and upper cam. I followed videos found on the web. I would recommend taking the refrigerator door off by removing the upper hinge bracket and lifting the door off the lower hinge. It was much easier to replace the hinge and cam with the door off. One video suggested using Di-electric grease to lubricate the cam surfaces. John S Simpsonville , SC January 15, 2018 Door was not closing completely door bushings were visibly worn Takes two people. Place a blanket down on the floor or table so you have something soft to set the doors on. Turn off the unit. Lifted unit up slightly in front to retract leveling feet. Lowered onto its wheel(s). Rolled unit away from wall. Turned off ice-maker water. Opened doors and removed plastic cover below the fridge and freezer by removing two screws and holding doors at 90 degree open position. Placed rags under freezer and disconnected three wire connectors and two water tubes going to door. Removed brackets holding wires and tubes (take a picture so you know how they are routed back). Starting with fridge door, remove all the shelves and then removed the top hinge. Lift the door from the bottom hinge . Set the door on blanket. Remove old hinge "cam-door" bushings and replace with new bushings. I lubricated the new ones with a grease that says it's compatible with plastic. replace door back on hinge, an extra set of eyes to help align the bottom hings may be helpful. Same for the freezer door, but use two people, one person to lift the door, the other the help feed the tubes through the center of the hinge. Installation is the reverse. L R Key West , FL July 03, 2020 Broken door pivot & support Parts ordered (Lower pivot) were of different design than those on refrigerator. Fortunately ordered entire bracket, so able to use. Unfortunately, entire weight of door where pivot parts go, is only supported by plastic door bottom panel. (Damaged by movers) This was cracked & would no longer support door, even with new parts. Door panel not available, so had to fabricate an “L” bracket to reinforce damaged area & complete repair. Door now better than before. Read More...
