Cody G Conway , AR July 16, 2020 Appliance: Whirlpool Trash Compactor TU4000XRP3 Ram stuck in down position due to bearing going out I bought new thrust races, a drive gear kit, bearings and a sprocket. When the bearing went out, the thrust races, washers, one bottom plate, and a sprocket was eaten up by the the chain due to the slack being created. I followed the video for the Drive Gear Kit repair and everything went together well. I did have to remove the tracks from inside the compactor in order to remove the cardboard liner that "hides" the drive rods. Additionally, be careful to not over-tension the chain when adjusting the motor. When I first put it back together, there was a loud grinding noise from the compactor. Releasing some of the tension from the motor corrected the issue and the compactor is running like new again. Read More...
