Roger R Bottineau , ND July 17, 2015 Appliance: Model MAYTAG WASHER MODEL A710 I have an old maytag washer that still was working but had to be manually shut off in the final spin cycle We called the local dealer who sent a repair man to our house. He watched as my wife turned the timer knob and said the timer was bad. He said he would see if they had the part. He later called to say they didn't have it or it was no longer available. When we got the bill, it had a note that the washer was 40 plus years old. There was a $26 charge for the trip to our house and a $35 "look at fee" for a total of $61 without even touching our washer. Since the machine still worked, I decided to look online to see if I could find the part I needed. I found your site, which was so user friendly and easily found the new timer that perfectly matched for my washer. I ordered the timer and it arrived in two or three days. I was able to get to the old timer with no problem and switch out the wires to the new timer. The trouble that I had was not knowing how to remove the old timer. I found videos online showing replacement of timers, but they were for new washers. I went to your site for live chat, which had been helpful when I ordered the timer, but was not able to find the answer for removing the timer. The person I was online with made several attempts to find the answer or a demo video. He advised me to contact them Monday (I was trying this on a week-end) when a service technician would be available. I noticed a circle in the middle of the timer knob, which was a different color than the rest of the knob. I decided to see if it was something that would pry off. I slipped a thin knife under it and in a couple of twists, it popped off. Then I could see a the rest of what I needed to remove to get the timer out. If I had it to do again, I think I could change it out start to finish in 10 minutes. The first load of wash my wife put through it stopped on one of the stages, so we feared it wasn't going to work. I thought, there is no reason that it shouldn't work because it matched perfectly, etc. I suggested running another load through the cycles, and it worked just fine. It has been working ever since. Thank you so much for your excellent service. I couldn't be more positively impressed and pleased with your website, and your service.
