Anthony G Exton , PA January 16, 2016 Appliance: Model OLD MAYTAG Timer would not advance and even moving it by hand would not run all functions as if contacts were burned out Part was delivered promptly by ground. Part was cheapest found on internet suppliers. First I found a YouTube video that showed how to take the timer out. This was good because the know cap needs a pointed tool to pry it out of the know, in order to remove the know and then remove the screws holding the timer to the faceplate. It also showed how easy it is to remove the faceplate without having to pull the washer from the wall. I first unplugged the power cord. The video did not show this. Then I removed the control knobs. Pry off the know cap. Remove the retaining clip in the timer stem. Removed the knob parts and spring, being careful not to let the spring go flying. Loosened the timer mooting screws. Then carefully removed the top screws holding the faceplate (don't drop any behind the washer). Then lift the faceplate and pull it out. Then remove the timer mount screws. Then unplug the two wire connectors. There is an upper and lower clip to hold. Prying out the plug with a small screw driver makes it easy to unplug. Then removed and replaced the timer in reverse order. All worked well when finished. Maybe 30-40 minutes to do the whole job.
