Darlene S Stanley , WI January 12, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator ED5VHEXVQ01 It was piddling on the floor every time it defrosted The drain pan (Tray-Evaporator Pan) was cracked in 2 places. We had to remove the front panel. Loosen the bracket that holds the water filter. Take off the back panel and disconnect the bracket that holds the selenoid. It was not necessary to unhook the water lines, just the bracket. It was not easy to remove the old pan and get the new one in, but holding the water filter, with the bracket intact, as far to the left side of the refrigerator as possible gave us the room to get the pan in. One of us held the filter out of the way while the other inserted the pan. (Some models have tape holding the pan in place which needs to be cut in order to remove the old pan, but ours did not.) Eugene S Barnegat , NJ July 14, 2015 Water leak under the frig Replaced the evaporator tray. Key Points: Part received in two days outstanding !!! Tray construction is a thicker grade plastic than the orginial factory unit. Removed the front grill, removed the two 5/16 hex screws and 1/4 hex screw from the water filter. Had to remove the rear cardboard cover on the back of the frig. Also important had to remove the two 1/4 screws from the water solenoid since the tubing did not allow the water filter to move completely away. Then you can slide the tray in from the front. All in alll about 20 minutes to complete and no more cold water to step in at two oclock in the morning when sneaking a midnight snack.
