Whirlpool 285903 Washplate OEM Part

Downloaded repair manual. Followed instructions with exception noted. One hour from opening box and washer to washer running and tools put away. The instructions refer to replacing grommets. In my washer there were no accessible grommets to replace.

Replaced washplate. very simple fix. took about 35 minutes to take apart, clean parts and reassemble.

By replacing the wash plate the seal was tight around it and the tub. Water was now allowed to drain and cycle properly. Clothes seem cleaner and smell great.

We replaced the motion plate in the bottom and all seems well now. It only took my husband about 15 minutes to install the new plate.

Replaced the washplate. You need to lift the top by inserting a putty knife into the clip on the front of the top, use the putty knife to prop the top up, pop the clips on top cover and remove the ring tub and hose (See video: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-ring-tub-280226-ap3996766.html), set aside to be cleaned, snap out the balance ring and set aside to be cleaned, remove the washplate dome with a stub regular screw driver, remove the six screws on the washplate, pull out old washplate and discard, clean bottom of tub and inspect the u-joint housing and gasket, place new washplate back on, paying close attention to the knob to align, use provided gromlets (I placed them between the bolt and washplate; although, they can also be stuck to u-joint center post), place screws and tighten using the cross method, reinsert wash plate dome, and while I had the top open and the balance ring and ring tub off, I decided to cleanup years of soap grime and lint from underneath and on the balance ring. Replace both of these items into their location and check clips to assure they are in place, close the top and snap into clips, plug machine in and you are ready to wash.
