This primary door interlock switch lets the microwave know the door is fully closed so cooking can start. Replacing a worn or sticking switch restores reliable start/stop response and helps prevent intermittent operation tied to door-latch signaling. What it does

  • Confirms the door is closed to allow the control to power the cook circuit
  • Common symptoms of a failed switch: won't start, stops when the door is jostled, or only runs when pressing on the door
  • Installs on the latch/door switch bracket alongside secondary/monitor switches
  • Helps correct inconsistent or no response when pressing Start

  • Disconnect power at the breaker; microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a dangerous charge
  • Access the latch/switch bracket, then release the switch from its clip or screws
  • Move wires to the same terminals on the new switch; match orientation/actuator position
  • After reassembly, verify the unit does not run with the door open and starts consistently with the door closed
