This air filter fits a number of gasoline-powered small engines that power various landscaping tools such as lawn mowers, woodchippers, generators, and other small engine powered devices. While most users understand the importance of an air filter for lawn equipment like mowers and edgers that kick up large amounts of dust and create clogging particulate, clean air filters are also essential for these other devices as well. Outdoor air is much dustier than most outdoor workers realize. With few exceptions, small engines create more particulate, much of it unseen. By their nature, air filters are designed to wear out by capturing so many airborne particles that air ceases to pass through the filter's elements. If a gasoline engine has enough fuel, yet it refuses to start, it's a good idea to check the air filter. Simply remove the air filter cover and take out the air filter. Start the engine. If it runs normally, the problem is the air filter. However, do not run the engine without an air filter for long periods of time. This replacement filter is OEM certified to be an exact replica of the original equipment filter. It is compatible with engines made by Craftsman, Toro, Briggs & Stratton, Simplicity, and Snapper.
The filter pre-cleaner is a first-stage cleaning system for the air filter in combustion engines. Typically, a pre-cleaner will be made of a dense foam material and will fit around a cartridge-style air filter, adding an extra level of filtration for any air coming into the engine. Over time, both the pre-cleaner and the filter can become clogged with regular use and typically need to be replaced as part of routine maintenance. However, intermittent clogs and damage can also occur that would necessitate an emergency replacement. Many people keep an extra set on hand in case of urgent repair needs. This genuine OEM filter pre-cleaner is specifically designed to fit select Briggs & Stratton engine air filters. It is compatible with over 150 machines from the brand, as well as select Toro machines that feature Briggs & Stratton engines. Replacing the air filter is simple but gloves should always be worn for hand protection. Allow the engine to cool completely and check the air filter if you are replacing the pre-cleaner to ensure that it doesn't need to be changed, as well.
