P.S. for Model Number SHX45M05UC/48 Almost immediately after I start the dishwasher, a buzzing/grinding sound comes from beneath the unit. It finally got so the dishwasher would not wash. I initially thought it was a faulty drain pump, which I have now replaced. The buzzing/grinding continues on start-up and now the flood pan beneath the unit immediately fills with water. When I open the dishwasher door, I can hear the soft sound of the pump (presumably the drain pump). If I empty the flood pan and turn the unit back on, it buzzes/grinds and the flood pan refills with water. Is it the circulation pump?
Answer Hello P.S., This sounds like a piece of broken glass is in the sump assembly and is contacting the pump impeller. You will need to access this from inside the unit. Pull out the filters and remove the one screw visible from inside the sump assembly. Use a wet vac to clear the area. This will normally correct the complaint you listed. Read More...
