Hello Cheryl, This is usually caused by a bad water valve. If the valve doesn't open fully, it causes a dribble of water to go into the base. This dribble causes enough water to accumulate in the base to activate the flood switch. This will cause the drain pump to run continuously and it will do nothing else. When you go to change the water valve, while you have it removed, you can use a towel to "wick" the water out of the bottom of the unit through the water valve mounting opening. Be careful not to damage the styrofoam float in the base just behind the valve. I normally provide the part number, but the specific part number is dependant on the FD number, which was not posted.
