Ernie for Model Number SHY56A05 UC/14 (FD8301-) The dishwasher will fill and drain but will not circulate water through the spray arms. Deduction is the circulating pump is bad. I removed the pump, turns free, no issues with the impeller, checked the starting capacitor (good) and checked motor connections with an ohm meter (no resistance). I tried to run the motor by direct, 110v connection but it does nothing (I may not be doing it correctly or possibly the starter is bad) There is no physical evidence of a bad motor. Before I order a new motor I want to verify mine is actually bad. Is there any other way I can check for a bad starter or motor? Motor # is 437345.
Answer Hello Ernie. If you put voltage to the motor and it did not work, then the motor is bad and will need to be replaced. You can also test for power coming to the motor from the board. If it is there, then the motor is bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
