Peter D. for Model Number SHX56B02 UC/14 (FD 8211-) If there is water in the base of the unit - does this mean that their is a leak? There is a float switch that activates the drain (it looks like there are two mechanisms that cause the float switch to activate) - does this float (in the base) mean that the drain cycle should also drain the base of the unit?
Answer Peter, no water in the base doesn't always indicate a leak, but you do need to check and see. It could be spillage, foam in the tub, etc. Yes it does look like a couple of mechanisms involved, but not really, it's one assembly. No, the float in the base does not mean the drain pump will drain the base, you will need to clean and dry out the base assembly by hand. Read More...
