For Bosch Drain Pump (Part Number: OEM17873694)

Andy M for Model Number SHV46C03UC/14

Is it normal for there to be a couple of inches of water in the sump area after the cycle has run? We did have an issue with a higher water level after the cycle (visible water in the bottom of the main housing, over top of the perforated sump cover plate, and running onto the floor when the door was opened). I did a thorough of the sump and pump area (I removed the pump cover inside the sump, and didn't see any major blockage or anything that was preventing the pump impeller from turning). I also removed and cleaned the rubber check valve (there was a lot of "gunk" around that), but didn't replace it with a new one. Now it's no longer leaving so much water in the bottom to the point where it's visible when the plate and round filter piece are in place, but there is still a couple of inches in the sump when I remove those items and look in. Maybe it's always been this way, and I just didn't know because it's not visible unless I pull that filter or plate off and look inside. Or do I maybe need to replace that rubber flapper check valve?

Andy, For there to be just a small amount would not be abnormal. The unit will have some water left in it just for the sole purpose of making sure seals stay moist.

Dishwasher would not drain, leaving a pool of (clear) water at the end of each wash cycle. I replaced the drain pump using your video. Dishwasher drain pump seemed to run when I turned the unit on, but even after reset would not initiate another wash cycle. After multiple attempts, the situation grew worse: 1) the door is now locked in the open position (odd, since our model doesn't have a child lock); 2) reset function no longer works (I can only turn it on and off); and, 3) dishwasher hum is louder when it's powered on. What steps can I take to diagnose and repair my Bosch SHX36L05UC/18?

1 Answer

Tarso R, I would suggest starting with the door lock or latch assembly as the machine is not going to function correctly if the door switches are not sending the correct information back to the board.

Sheldon, You will want to get down in the drain pump and the wash pump to make sure that there is nothing caught in it. This could be the cause of the noise. The other possibility would be if the water valve when filling is making the noise which would require a water valve.

Hello Robert, As per the manufacturer, E:23 Coil error. Which means System check of drain pump motor coil failed, functional safety error. Replace the drain pump 00631200. The motor is ac powered and the leads can be swapped without changing the operation or direction of the motors' rotation.

Jana for Model Number WDF510PAYSA

Our dishwasher is not draining. We took it apart and determined there is no clogging. 1) We tested the impeller and the solenoid for continuity and all good. 2) We ran the drain mode with the impeller outside and it was spinning no problem. 3) We manually run water through the drain hose with a help of a shop vac and the water was going through. We thought that maybe cleaning the hose helped, put everything back together but no luck. The dishwasher is making a rather silent buzzing sound when in the drain mode. after a minute or so it turns off (it gets quiet and the LED goes off). What would you suggest please?

Jana, You will want to check to make sure that there is voltage getting to the pump assembly. If there is no power then check wiring between the pump and the control board. If the wiring is ok then the control board would be the issue.
