R. Brown for Model Number HMV3053U/01 I'm having the same problem described by the DIY stories -- my circuit breaker trips when closing the microwave door. I believe I need to replace the switches and wanted to see how easy it was to get at them but am having difficulty removing the vent. I've removed the top 2 screws but the vent doesn't just pull right out -- is there a trick to removing it? I'm reluctant to muscle it too much.
Answer R Brown, You may want to loosen, but do not remove the top mounting bolts at the bottom of the cabinet. Then remove the two screws that secure the vent panel to the front of the microwave. Remove the one screw at the center of the assembly, that secures the control panel assembly to the frame and lower or remove the panel. Label and disconnect the wire leads from the interlock switches. Remove two screws securing the Latch Board. Make necessary replacements and check and readjust the door assembly. Read More...
