The Switch is an OEM part for Bosch microwaves. It plays a role in the safety and functionality of the microwave, acting as a security mechanism that prevents the microwave from operating when the door is open. This ensures that microwave radiation is contained and only in use when the door is securely closed, protecting users from accidental exposure.

Causes of a malfunctioning door switch can range from physical damage, such as cracks or wear from repeated use, to electrical issues like short circuits or disconnections.

Symptoms of a bad Microwave Door Switch include:

  • The microwave fails to start or stops unexpectedly.
  • The interior light fails to turn on or off appropriately.
  • Unusual sounds when the door is opened or closed.
  • The microwave operates only when the door is in a certain position or not at all.

This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore models.

Remove the one screw at the center of the assembly, that secures the control panel assembly to the frame and lower or remove the panel. Label and disconnect the wire leads from the interlock switches. Remove two screws securing the Latch Board. Make necessary replacements and check and readjust the door assembly.
