Manufacturer Part Number: 00189968

The Vent Switch is an OEM replacement part for Bosch range hoods. It is an electronic control device located inside the range hood that regulates the internal vent and fan functions.

Causes of a faulty vent switch can include long-term use in high-heat cooking environments, damage from accidental spills or impacts, or normal component degradation over time.

Symptoms include:

  • Failure of the fan or vents to engage during cooking
  • Variable or inconsistent fan speeds that don't adequately vent smoke
  • Electrical shorting or sparking noises from within the hood control unit

This genuine Bosch replacement part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore range hood models.

Antonio for Model Number CVS36RS

The Thermidor cvs36rb downdraft unit continuously cycles up and down, and of course the fan does not work. I am concluding the likely culprit is the up/down switch: Part Number: AP2825671 MFG Part Number: 00189968 Bosch. I have read that it is tricky to connect the two white wires correctly. Before committing to buying to switch, I want to understand how to pull the old switch off, i.e., disconnect the three wires (one black and two white) that are strongly attached and do not disconnect easily. Do I just have to pull really hard? Or is there a latch that I have to trigger with a screw driver? Just afraid of breaking the wires. Thank you.

Answer

Antonio, to remove the up/down switch: 1. Raise the snorkel. 2. turn off the power to the vent hood. 3. Remove the front panel and filters from the snorkel. 4. Remove the top cap(remove the two screws from the ends of the snorkel and lift the cap off the snorkel. To remove the switch, 1. Remove the the knob from the control shaft and unclip the bezel. 2. Remove the two bracket screw from the side of the snorkel control box. 3. Lift the mounting bracket out of the snorkel control box just enough to access the switch and wire connections. 4. Remove the button and round nut then disconnect the wires( you may need a small flat blade screwdriver to pry up on the wire terminals to assist in removing the wires.) Reverse the procedure and test the unit for operation. If the problem persists, you will need to remove the venting and the front cover of the blower assembly(under the counter) and check and/or replace the 00414396 / 00414396 micro switches.
