Erik for Model Number glefm397dsa Hi. I returned home and turned on the oven to bake a pizza. There was a buzz and a pop and a smell of burnt electrical. After unplugging it and plugging it back in, everything seemed to work except the oven elements (top, bottom, broil and convection) didn't heat up. The stove top elements and the bottom oven work fine. Even the oven controls (light, temp indicator, etc) all seemed to indicate working order - but nothing heated. I called the store i purchased it from for repair and diagnostic. I was told that the repair would total $460 and that the parts needed were the "control" and the "overlay" because typically in replacing the "control" the overlay was damaged. The part price seemed extreme and I couldn't get the manufacturers part out of them. In looking here - i find the description "control" is a bit vague. I'm wondering it they mean the circuit board 316426501 which according to the Q&A seems NOT to control the oven elements or the clock 316418704 which according to the Q&A seems to control the oven elements is what they meant. Any advice on which controls the oven and may have failed?
Answer Erik, You're on track, You most likely have a damaged/shorted relay control board 316426501 This control board, applies power to all the elements in the range, and would be the most likely issue, based on your post description Read More...
