Dan for Model Number PLES389ECC The clock goes blank, when I turn a burner knob on, the clock comes back on showing power failure. After a few seconds I can reset the clock and the oven would work again, then shut off if the door is opened. This has been getting progressively worse until today when nothing is working at all not even the burners. I can get the display to light up but I get no heat in oven or on stove top. Then everything goes blank again. I have tested the power and it is fine, there are no loose or frayed wires. No error codes ever come up on the display. Thanks
Answer Hello Dan, This sounds like a poor electrical connection. Start at the power cord prongs. If there is a burned spot on any of the prongs, the power cord and the wall outlet will need to be replaced. Next go to the terminal block where the cord attaches to the unit. With the unit unplugged, check for any connection being discolored or loose. If no problems are found, try turning the breaker off and back on. This way you can feel of the breaker to see if it may be an issue, (a bad breaker will not be stiff and snap back and forth like the other breakers but will feel weak). One of these will be the issue since it is affecting both the surface and the clock. You see, the power supplies split at the terminal block and the surface element circuits are completely separate from the clock/bake/broil circuits from that point on. Read More...
