Ricky for Model Number 79095352804 I have a Kenmore electric oven. Recently it starting flashing an F10 code. I unplugged it and let it sit for a few minutes and the code cleared. I turned the oven back on and it appeared to heat up. It seemed to be in pre heat for a long time and when I opened the oven door to check it there seemed to be a weird smell. From the research I have done it seems to usually be the temperature sensor or the oven control board. Could it actually be the heating element? What do you think?
Answer Ricky, the heating elements can ground out and cause a runaway condition. This can be tested by accessing them from the back and testing each terminal to ground/chassis. If there is continuity, then the element has grounded out and would need to be changed. The sensor probe 316490000 can be an issue and it can be tested for resistance. The sensor probe should measure 1100O of resistance at room temperature. If these check good, then the main control would be the likely item to have failed. Unfortunately, the main control 316557108 has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, February 6, 2020
