Donnell for Model Number FRS22ZRG Unit stopped freezing. Service man replaced defrost button and thermostat, but unit still doesn't freeze. As a matter of fact it keeps on tripping breaker?
Answer Donnell, Did it trip the breaker before the repair ? If not, there maybe a mis wire when the thermostat and button was replaced ? If not, Yes, it could be a defective compressor and drawing more than the 12 to 14 amps it usually takes to start the compressor and causing the breaker to trip. Read More... Answer Hello Donnell, You will need to unplug the unit and use a resistance meter to locate the short that is tripping the breaker. This is systematic and as long as the short reads on the test meter from the units plug, (always unplugged when testing for resistance to ground to prevent damage to the test meter), the problem still exists. You will have to unplug each component until the short to ground is gone, then test the component. This is normally done by an experienced technician since it is so involved and time consuming.
