Dave G for Model Number LFFU2067DS0 White wire going into the controller was getting hot enough to be smoking. Would this be caused by a bad controller, capisitor, or do you think the compressor is going out? Freezer was still working I just smelled the burning wire insulation.
Answer Dave, The white wire is the neutral leg of the circuit. First check power at the outlet static, then check it again when the power is applied to the compressor and it starts, there should only be a 2 or 3 volt drop in power the first few seconds. Check to make sure there are no loose connections pinched wires or wires melted to each other, especially the green (ground) wires. If you have access to a clamp on ammeter the compressor may draw as high as 14 amps at the start of the cycle, but should drop down to .5 amps to 1.5 amps in a few minutes(5-10 mins.). Read More...
