  • Heats cookware by energizing the inner ring alone or both inner and outer rings together
  • Helps resolve issues such as a surface burner not heating, only one ring heating, or intermittent/uneven heat
  • Replaces a cracked, blistered, or visibly damaged element to restore reliable performance
What's included: 1 dual surface heating element Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker and allow the cooktop to cool completely before servicing
  • Access the element from beneath the cooktop; photograph wire locations for reference
  • Carefully transfer any brackets, clips, or attached limiter from the original element if required
  • Avoid touching the element surface; secure all connections and test both inner and dual settings after reassembly

Answer

Hello Lisa. You will test the switch you use to turn on the dual element. If there is power to the switch, but not to the outer ring, the switch is bad. If there is power to the outer ring, but it does not work, the element is bad on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
