Linda N. December 10, 2016 for Model Number 790.95042503 I melted some plastic in my front small element and it turned it black. Is there anyway to get that out? The burner works fine, I just need a cleaner to get the color back to original.

Robert L. April 22, 2016 for Model Number Frigidaire FEF389WJCB electric range Recently, the switch that controls the outer part of the right front element (facing the range) shorted out and fused in one position. Now only the inner element works. First question, this is the 9"/6" element. The left element is a 9"/5" element. Is part 15B, AP2592274 the correct replacement element for the 9"/6" element? Second question, the replacement switch is listed as part 24, AP2125196, but is described as "switch-rocker, oven light, black, right. Is this the correct part? Also, when the switch shorted out it melted the connection on the wire feeding the switch and I would like to replace it. What gauge wire is used in this type of wiring? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Robert, The wiring size for the rocker switch 316083100 has not been identified by wire size by the manufacturer. Since the harness for this unit has been discontinued you should cut a small part of the burned wire off and carry it with you to a hardware/appliance store. Read More...
Bill December 29, 2014 for Model Number FES388WGCC Have a burner that runs high regardless of dial setting. Need to know which part handles this part of the circuit.
1 Answer Hello Bill, The most common cause of this complaint is a failed infinite switch. The part number will vary depending on the surface element that is not operating properly. The regular surface element infinite switches all cross to 5303935086. If it is the warming center infinite switch is part number 5304508926. Read More...
Ken April 12, 2014 for Model Number fef387wjcb I just replaced this element and it burns for just a second or two, the thermostat turns it off for a second or two, and then back on for a second oft two. this cycle keeps repeating unless I run the burner to "high". the same thing is happening to all 4 burners. I did not notice it before I replaced the burner, but did not pay any attention. Is this normal or do I have another problem?
1 Answer Ken, It is normal for the element to cycle on and off. The cycling will happen so that the unit does not overheat and cause a thermal breakage. At times even on high the unit will cycle off as well. Read More...
Jerry M February 08, 2014 for Model Number 79046804990 My large burner went out for the large sside of burner. I ordered one a few weeks ago and received it a day or so ago but it is not the same as the the one one my stove. I tried to install it but cannot get it to pow up for either burner size. The connections are not the same and I did not receive a wiring diagram either. The switch worked before with the small burner so I do not feel like the switch is the problem. Thank you.
1 Answer Jerry, Unfortunately we are unable to access a wiring diagram for your model due to being Kenmore. The part that was ordered should wire up the same as the original based on the picture that I can see. There should be 4 connections to be made. Read More...
Lisa July 22, 2013 for Model Number FEF388CJBA My heating element just lost the outer ring of heat and only inner ring is still heating. I noticed another questioneer asking about just replacing element or checking a "switch" Can you explain what switch I should be testing before I order the new element? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Lisa. You will test the switch you use to turn on the dual element. If there is power to the switch, but not to the outer ring, the switch is bad. If there is power to the outer ring, but it does not work, the element is bad on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Nima October 07, 2012 for Model Number fef389wjcb to replace heating elements 15a and 15b please need direction so i could order both parts
1 Answer Nima, Here are the "basic instructions you requested. "Smooth top elements: 1. Disconnect power from the range. 2. Open the oven door and remove the two phillips screws holding the main top to the front frame and raise the main top. 3. Tag and disconnect wires from the element to be removed. 4. Remove the two screws, one on each end, of the element support bar. 5. The element is held to the support bar by 2 spring loaded clips. With a pair of needlenose pliers squeeze the tab on the spring mounting clip and push the element away from the bar. 6. The clips are held to the element by screws. When replacing the element be sure to note the hole number that the clip is attach to the old element." Thanks Read More...
Ryan M July 21, 2012 for Model Number FEF388CJBA It seems as if the whole heating element is not working. I feel like only the inside smaller part is is working on the bigger front right element. Is this possible? Will buying a new surface element fix this? or is it possible something else is causing the problem like some sort of limit switch or relay of some sort?
1 Answer Hello Ryan. Test the element 389082702 and make sure the contact are closed for continuity. If so, then the switch is bad and needs to be replaced, If it test open, the element is bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
