Dennis for Model Number kenmore 79096021406 The right front 8" element on my kenmore 790 electric range continues to heat after it has been turned off. Does the switch need replaced? If so will your switch 316436000 replace 316021501? Your switch looks different than mine. I marked my switch for wire color but I am unsure how they would connect to your switch. Thanks, Dennis
Answer Hello Dennis, the original switch for the 8" element was 316021501 but was replaced with 316436001. Look for the markings on the switch. Make sure you have disconnected power or turned off the breaker before making this repair. There should be a wiring diagram on the back of the range. If not, the switch should have the terminals marked L1, L2, H1, H2, and P. Terminals L1 and L2 are the wires for the power coming to the switch. Terminals H1 and H2 provide the power going to the element. The P terminal is usually for an indicator light. Hope this helps! Read More...
