John for Model Number gts18hcsarww I was told I need to replace the defrost component to repair my refrigerator. Is the control defrost the same thing as the defrost timer? My freezer works but my frige is not cooling.
Answer Hello John. Yes, the defrost control WR9X502 is the same thing as the defrost timer. If the timer is good, you will need to test the heater and the thermostat if there is a defrost problem. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
