Anthony I have an old Hotpoint oven. The bottom element is out. The part number is WB44x142. It is being replaced by WB44x5043. My original has 3 prongs. Part WB44x5043 has 2 prongs. Is it safe to use the element with 2 prongs? Is there a fire hazard etc? Also, my element just slides into the element socket. The element does not have to be attached to wires. Does the WB44x5043 have prongs that are firm and just slide into the socket or does it have prongs that are loose and need to be attached to wires? Note: the oven model number has been worn off.
