The Heating Element is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. It is responsible for heating the water during the wash cycles and for drying the dishes after the rinse cycle. Proper functioning of the heating element ensures optimal cleaning and drying performance.

Causes of a bad heating element can include mineral buildup from hard water, electrical faults, or general wear and tear over time. Damage to the heating coil or connections can also impair its functionality.

Symptoms of a bad heating element include:

  • Dishes not drying properly
  • Dishwasher cycles taking longer than usual
  • Water not heating during the wash cycle
  • Error codes related to heating issues

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Justin for Model Number GDF520PSF4SS

I have a G.E. Dishwasher model number GDF520PSF4SS. The dishwasher is not drying the dishes.I checked out the heating element with a meter and it seems to be good. pulled wires off and checked it with a meter and nothing is open on it showing a break in element or bad element. Could you help me where to go next, is it the main board I need to check or is it the display board I would need to check? I know I need to check for voltage feeding the heating element when it calls for drying to see if I have it but not sure which one of the boards would be putting out the voltage. Any help with this problem would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Answer

Justin, with the power supply off, the machine control WD21X22276 would need to be accessed for testing. While the wires are connected to the heater, the wire connection J702 would need to be tested from the violet wire to the red and white wire for 23.4 Ohms. If the resistance shows open, but was showing as good at the heater, the TCO on the AC wire harness and pump kit WD49X23778 has failed. If the reading is good when testing at these two wires, the machine control would be the cause of failure.
