Terry M. for Model Number GE Profile PFSS6PKX My ice maker no longer makes ice but dispenses water without difficulty. How do I remove the ice maker as it is not obvious. Is it usually repairable or will I have to buy a new one?
Answer Hello Terry, First off be aware that the dual water valve has one valve in it for the water dispenser and one valve for the icemaker. For this reason, the only thing the two have in common is the water supply to the refrigerator from the home water supply. I would replace the water valve first since it is the less expensive part and the more common cause of failure. If this doesn't correct the issue, since the icemaker has no available parts for service, it will have to be replaced. To remove the icemaker, remove the single screw that retains the panel to the bottom left of the icemaker. This allows access to the harness so it can be unplugged.
