The Ice Maker is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. This component is responsible for producing ice cubes by filling the ice mold with water and freezing it until the ice is ready to be dispensed.

Causes of a bad ice maker can include wear and tear from regular use, issues with the water supply, or mechanical failures within the unit.

Symptoms of a bad ice maker include:

  • No ice production
  • Smaller than usual or misshapen ice cubes
  • Leaks or water pooling inside the freezer
  • Unusual noises during the ice-making process

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

For Ge Icemaker (Part Number: OEM13540185)

Firebird for Model Number RF4287HARS/XAA

Although this Ice Maker is supposed to be a genuine GE part, how come the images show it to be a Samsung part? I am trying to purchase an identical Samsung Ice Maker (AP5651749) but it has been on backorder for over a month. In my chat with an AppliancePartsPro expert, they pointed me to this GE Ice Maker. Question - are they actually the same product (Samsung AP5651749 vs. GE AP4513392)? The GE part is in stock and the Samsung part is on backorder.

Firebird, The correct ice maker for your model is the DA97-07365G Although the GE ice maker may be similar we can't guarantee it will work for your machine. The GE one may have different harnesses and specifications for the GE machine. It is recommended to stay with the original manufacturer's part.

Hello Eric, once the ice bin is removed remove the mounting screw on the front left of the liner then pull out the wire harness cover, disconnect the ice maker wire harness then push in the ice maker tabs and slide the ice maker out, the motor in 125 is part of the rear-mounted auger motor rand is not part of the ice maker.

Phil, it would be recommended that the ice maker WR30X10131 is inspected for any cracks or identification of whether it is overfilling. If it is overfilling and there is water dripping from the fill tube above the ice maker, the failure would be in the water valve WR57X10091.

Hello Dennis, The arm for the icemaker is connected to an on/off switch for the icemaker. If the icemaker continues to make ice when turned off, this part of the new icemaker WR30X10131 has to be defective. This switch is internal to the icemaker. Give us a call at 1-877-477-7278 with your units' model and serial number and we will set up a warranty replacement for the part. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Stan, The test switch when pressed and held down will start a cycle. You can force a cycle and make sure it dumps the ice then refills.

John, It would be recommended to pull the icemaker and see if there is ice blocking the fill tube. If there is not then test to see if the water valve is getting 120 vac when the icemaker calls for water. If there is power to the valve but no water and no frozen fill tube then this would be a valve issue.

Dave, If unable to release the tab at the top of the icemaker in the front then try to use a flat blade screwdriver to get the tab to release. You may need to push the icemaker back slightly to get it to release.

Iceman87 for Model Number GE GFSS6KKYBSS

A young person in my household removed the ice bucket from the ice maker assembly, then forcibly reinserted the bucket into the assembly. Something went awry, and now the ice bucket/auger assembly won't seat back in the ice maker assembly, and if I can get it back in, it makes a god-awful "churning" noise. In addition, the crushed-ice flapper door is stuck open. I'm inclined to think that once it starts producing ice again, it'll only dispense whole ice cubes as opposed to crushed ice, even though it's set to crushed ice (auger door stuck open.) My question: when the bucket was shoved back into the ice maker, is it possible that something broke with the protruding "auger door opening bar" that extends beyond the back of the bucket assembly? It doesn't appear that anything looks broken, but the bucket should simply slide in and click into the ice maker, and it just doesn't do this. Thanks.

Iceman87, This issue does sound like the arm that runs from front to back is not going into the slot at the back and potentially could have been bent by shoving the part into place.
