Iceman87 for Model Number GE GFSS6KKYBSS A young person in my household removed the ice bucket from the ice maker assembly, then forcibly reinserted the bucket into the assembly. Something went awry, and now the ice bucket/auger assembly won't seat back in the ice maker assembly, and if I can get it back in, it makes a god-awful "churning" noise. In addition, the crushed-ice flapper door is stuck open. I'm inclined to think that once it starts producing ice again, it'll only dispense whole ice cubes as opposed to crushed ice, even though it's set to crushed ice (auger door stuck open.) My question: when the bucket was shoved back into the ice maker, is it possible that something broke with the protruding "auger door opening bar" that extends beyond the back of the bucket assembly? It doesn't appear that anything looks broken, but the bucket should simply slide in and click into the ice maker, and it just doesn't do this. Thanks.
Answer Iceman87, This issue does sound like the arm that runs from front to back is not going into the slot at the back and potentially could have been bent by shoving the part into place. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, August 17, 2017
